Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL384 3mm M12 lens support?

The CIL384 is designed for 1/2.5\" sensors including the Sony ISX031 and ON Semiconductor AR0234, resolving 2MP at 3.45μm pixel pitch across a 6.7mm image circle.

Is the CIL384 IP69K rated for automotive exterior applications?

Yes. The CIL384 carries an IP69K rating with a sealed all-glass all-metal barrel rated for high-pressure washdown, dust ingress, and automotive temperature cycling.

How much distortion does the CIL384 have at -36%?

At -36%, barrel distortion is significant but typical for a 3mm class wide-angle. Automotive surround-view and ADAS systems routinely correct this in software. If you need lower distortion at this focal length, consider the CIL329 or CIL327.

What cameras are mechanically compatible with the CIL384?

FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, iDS uEye LE (Rev1.1 and Rev1.2), The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart S-mount cameras all mount the CIL384 directly. Use the Commonlands CLA019 holder or an e-con Systems 10-12mm tall holder.

Does the CIL384 ship same day from the US?

Yes. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from our San Diego warehouse. Contact us for volume pricing on production runs.

Can the CIL384 be used for surround-view ADAS camera systems?

Absolutely. The 116° FoV, IP69K rating, F/1.6 aperture for low-light, and ISX031/AR0234 sensor compatibility make the CIL384 a strong fit for surround-view, parking assist, and rear-view camera modules.

The CIL384 is a 3.34mm IP69K-rated M12 lens built for automotive and outdoor embedded vision on 1/2.5" sensors like the Sony ISX031 and ON Semiconductor AR0234. At F/1.6 fixed, it pulls in enough light for low-light driving scenarios and high frame rate capture without needing to open the aperture further.

The 116° field of view at 6.7mm image circle covers the wide-angle range typical of surround-view and ADAS camera systems. Distortion is -36%, which is significant but expected for a 3mm class wide-angle. For applications like parking assist and lane monitoring, software distortion correction is standard practice anyway. Use the field of view calculator at https://commonlands.com/pages/camera-field-of-view-calculator to check coverage on your sensor, and the depth of field calculator at https://commonlands.com/pages/camera-depth-of-field-calculator for working distance planning.

Seven all-glass elements in an aluminum barrel, IP69K rated for high-pressure washdown and temperature cycling. Total weight is 5g. Available with 650nm IR cut filter (CIL384-F1.6-M12A650) or without for NIR applications (CIL384-F1.6-M12ANIR).

Broad mechanical compatibility across major board camera platforms: Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE (both revisions), The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart all mount directly. Uses the Commonlands CLA019 lens holder with a 10-12mm tall mount. e-con Systems S-mount boards also compatible.

Ships same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST. Volume pricing available for automotive production quantities. Trioptics MTF test data on request.
