Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL213 230-degree fisheye support?

The CIL213 covers 1/1.8 inch sensors while resolving 12MP at 1.55μm pixel pitch. Sony IMX677 and IMX147 are verified matches. Its 4.5mm image circle also covers smaller 1/2.3 inch and 1/3 inch formats.

How wide is the CIL213 field of view?

The CIL213 gives 230° diagonal field of view. That goes past hemispherical coverage. Calculate the exact angle on your sensor at field of view calculator

Is the CIL213 weatherproof for outdoor use?

Yes, the CIL213 is IP65-rated against dust and water jets. It works for outdoor surveillance, drone, and exterior monitoring without an extra housing.

What lens holder does the CIL213 need?

The Commonlands CLA024 lens holder is one compatible mounting option. e-con Systems standard S-mount boards need an 8-13mm holder height, while Allied Vision Alvium and FLIR Blackfly S mount directly.

Can I use the CIL213 for 360-degree camera stitching?

Yes, two CIL213 lenses back-to-back give overlapping 230° fields with margin for parallax stitching. Its 12MP resolution at 1.55μm gives you enough pixels for usable 360° output.

Does the CIL213 fisheye M12 lens ship same day?

Yes, orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from the San Diego warehouse. Every CIL213 is individually MTF tested before leaving the ISO 9001:2015 facility.

The CIL213 is a 1.2mm ultra-fisheye M12 lens with a full 230° field of view on a 4.5mm image circle. It uses ten all-glass elements in an aluminum barrel, a fixed F/2.3 aperture, and a 21g package. That is heavier than most M12 fisheyes, but the extra glass is what it takes to get 230° coverage while still resolving 12MP at 1.55μm pixel pitch on 1/1.8" sensors such as the Sony IMX677 and IMX147.

The lens uses -9% F-Θ distortion, which puts the projection between equidistant and equisolid. That matters because the 230° field reaches behind the lens plane, so two cameras mounted back-to-back can overlap enough for 360° stitching with some margin. The compact 4.5mm image circle also helps keep the overall package smaller than you would expect for this field angle.

The CIL213 ships IP65-rated out of the box. It is sealed against dust ingress and water jets, so outdoor surveillance and exterior monitoring do not need extra weatherproofing around the lens. The aluminum barrel and BBAR-coated first surface also hold up better outdoors than cheaper plastic builds.

The lens mounts with the Commonlands CLA024 lens holder. It is compatible with e-con Systems boards using an 8-13mm holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, and Basler Dart. iDS uEye LE Rev1.1 works, but Rev1.2 does not. The Imaging Source requires removing the glass window first.

Commonlands ships this lens same day from San Diego before 12 PM PST. Every CIL213 is 100% MTF tested. You can check field of view on your sensor at field of view calculator
