Frequently asked questions

What sensors are compatible with the CIL122 12mm M12 lens?

The CIL122 is designed for 1/1.7\" sensors resolving 8–12MP at 1.85μm pixel pitch. The OS08A10 and AR0821 are good matches. The 9.3mm image circle covers these sensor formats with margin to spare.

Does the CIL122 support IR and visible light simultaneously?

Yes. The CIL122 is IR corrected, meaning visible and 850–940nm NIR light focus to the same plane. This makes it a strong pick for RGBIR sensors and day/night surveillance where you need sharp images in both spectral bands.

How much distortion does the CIL122 have?

Under 2% TV distortion at the 9.2mm image circle. For most machine vision applications — barcode reading, object detection, dimensional gauging — that is low enough to skip software distortion correction entirely.

What cameras work with the CIL122 12mm M12 lens?

The CIL122 is mechanically compatible with e-con Systems S-mount, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S board-level, iDS uEye XLS, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart cameras. Use the Commonlands CLA024 lens holder for standard mounting.

What is the CIL122 image circle and resolution?

The CIL122 produces a 9.3mm image circle and resolves 8–12MP at 1.85μm pixel pitch. Use the depth of field calculator at https://commonlands.com/pages/camera-depth-of-field-calculator to estimate working distance performance.

Does the CIL122 12mm lens ship same day from the US?

Yes. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from our San Diego warehouse. Contact us for volume pricing or to request MTF test data.

The CIL122 is an IR corrected 12mm M12 lens designed for 8MP to 12MP sensors in 1/1.7" format, including the OS08A10 and AR0821. At F/2.4 fixed aperture and 7g total weight, it fits tight integration envelopes common in robotics and surveillance systems. The 9.3mm image circle covers the full sensor diagonal with margin, and the all-glass all-metal construction handles temperature swings without focus drift.

Distortion stays under 2% TV at the 9.2mm image circle, which is good enough for most machine vision pipelines without software correction. The 43° field of view hits the sweet spot for monitoring corridors, doorways, and conveyor sections. Use the Commonlands field of view calculator at https://commonlands.com/pages/camera-field-of-view-calculator to match this lens to your specific sensor.

Nine glass elements in an AL6061 aluminum barrel with BBAR coating on the first lens surface. The IR correction keeps visible and 850–940nm NIR light in the same focal plane, so RGBIR sensors like the OX08B40 stay sharp without refocusing between spectral bands. Total weight is 7g.

The M12A variant ships with or without a 650nm IR cut filter — order CIL122-F2.0-M12A650 for daylight-only systems or CIL122-F2.0-M12ANIR for NIR applications. Compatible with e-con Systems, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye XLS, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart board cameras using the Commonlands CLA024 lens holder.

All lenses ship same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST. Each unit is 100% MTF tested at our ISO 9001:2015 facility. Contact engineering@commonlands.com for volume pricing or to request Trioptics MTF test reports.
