CIL028 is a wide-angle M12 lens tuned for a more normal image shape than most lenses in this focal range. It uses a 2.6mm effective focal length and is available at F/2.3 and F/2.6. The lens delivers a 100° field of view, supports 1/2" sensors, and has a 7.2mm designed image circle with 8.5mm maximum coverage.

The distortion spec is the reason to choose it. Commonlands lists -1% TV distortion (4:3), which is low for a 2.6mm board lens. That makes CIL028 a better fit when you need wide framing but do not want the stretched edges and heavy software correction that usually come with short focal lengths.

The optical package is rated for 3MP to 5MP with 2.2μm pixels at F/2.3, and the total lens weight is 6.8g. Construction is a hybrid glass/plastic design with an aluminum barrel. The listed mechanical version has no ingress protection, so it is better suited to enclosed cameras than directly exposed housings.

In practice, CIL028 fits embedded vision systems that need a wide but controlled image on larger board sensors. The combination of 2.6mm EFL, 100° FoV, and -1% TV distortion is useful for barcode, kiosk, robotics, and general-purpose machine vision work where geometry matters.
