Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the CIL818 M8A, M12A, and M12B fisheye variants?

The CIL818 is offered in M8A, M12A, and M12B mechanics. M8A uses M8x0.5 threads with an aluminum barrel, M12A uses M12x0.5 with an AL6061 cap and plastic barrel, and M12B uses M12x0.5 with an all-aluminum barrel.

What sensors does the CIL818 1.75mm fisheye lens support?

The CIL818 supports formats from 1/3.6\" to 1/1.8\" and is specified for 3-5MP sensors with 3μm pixels.

What is the field of view and image circle of the CIL818 fisheye lens?

The specification table lists 190° at a 5.1mm image circle, with a full image circle of 5.3mm.

Is the CIL818 M8 / M12 fisheye lens IP67 rated?

Yes. The page lists all major CIL818 variants as IP67 rated for dust and water resistance.

Which holder should I use with the CIL818 compact fisheye lens?

Commonlands recommends the CLA017 holder for the CIL818. e-con Systems boards with 5-7mm holder height are the primary compatible option listed on the page.

Can I get STP files for the CIL818 190° fisheye lens?

Yes. Mechanical drawings and STP files for the CIL818 are available on request.

The CIL818 is the compact option when you need fisheye coverage in either M8A, M12A, or M12B mechanics. EFL is 1.75mm, aperture is F/2.05, and the specification table gives 190° at a 5.1mm image circle with a full image circle of 5.3mm. The page also positions it as a 195°/200° class miniature fisheye, which is why it shows up in ultra-wide embedded camera searches.

This lens is built for sensors from 1/3.6" to 1/1.8" with 3-5MP resolution and 3μm pixels. If you are working with AR0230-class sensors and you need more coverage without a bulky lens stack, this is the right direction. The small mass matters too: the M8 version is just 1.4g.

Construction is a hybrid glass/plastic optical design. The M8 version uses an AL6061 cap and barrel. The M12 version uses an AL6061 cap with a plastic barrel in the M12A version, while M12B moves to an AL6061 barrel. All listed variants are IP67 rated and use BBAR on lens 1 surface 1.

Compatibility is narrower than the CLA024-class M12 lenses. The recommended holder is CLA017, and e-con Systems boards with a 5-7mm holder height are the cleanest match. Allied Vision, FLIR, iDS uEye LE, and The Imaging Source are listed as not compatible on the page. Basler requires an inquiry rather than a straight yes.

Ships same day from San Diego before 12 PM PST. Mechanical drawings and STP files are available on request, and we can quote volume pricing for production builds.
