Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL212 support?

The CIL212 supports 1/2.5\" sensors including the AR0521 and IMX335, resolving 8MP at 1.55μm pixel pitch.

What is the CIL212 image circle and field of view?

The CIL212 covers a 3.9mm image circle at a 226° field of view — the widest in the compact Commonlands miniature fisheye range.

Where can I find the CIL212 mechanical drawing and distortion data?

Full optical, F-Θ, and TV distortion data are available in the mechanical drawing on DocSend at https://docsend.com/view/s/m6h6ukf2jcsdynzz. Contact us to request STP files.

Is the CIL212 M12A variant weatherproof?

The M12A variant has no ingress protection rating. Plan accordingly in your enclosure or housing design.

Does the CIL212 ship same day from the US?

Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from our San Diego warehouse. Contact us to confirm current stock.

What camera boards are compatible with the CIL212?

Allied Vision Alvium S-mount is directly compatible. e-con Systems S-mount boards work with a 7–9mm tall holder. The Imaging Source Rev1.2 is compatible with PN ending in C-No. iDS uEye LE and FLIR Blackfly S board are not compatible.

The CIL212 is a 226° miniature fisheye M12 lens with a 1.1mm EFL and F/2.2, designed for 1/2.5" sensors like the AR0521 and IMX335. At 6g and 20mm TTL, it handles 4K+ imaging at 8MP with 1.55μm pixel pitch — pushing the boundary of what a lens this small can resolve. The 3.9mm image circle makes it a circular fisheye on most standard formats.

The -10% F-Θ distortion is on the low end for a 226° lens. It's not flat — you still get a fisheye look — but the barrel distortion is moderate enough that software correction is straightforward. For 360° surveillance, aerial cameras, and robotics where wide-angle coverage beats geometric precision, the CIL212 hits the right tradeoff.

The M12A variant uses a hybrid glass/plastic optical design in an AL6061 barrel — lighter and well-toleranced for production assembly. No ingress protection rating on this variant, so account for that in your housing design. Order CIL212-F2.2-M12A660 with the 660nm IRC filter or CIL212-F2.2-M12ANIR without. Allied Vision Alvium S-mount cameras are mechanically compatible. e-con Systems boards work with a 7–9mm holder.

Full distortion data including optical, F-Θ, and TV distortion curves are available in the mechanical drawing on DocSend. Ships same day from San Diego before 12 PM PST. Contact our US-based optical engineers for volume pricing or integration questions.
