Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL232 mini fisheye support?

The CIL232 supports sensors up to 1/1.7\" format including the IMX728 and AR0823, resolving 12MP+ at 1.85μm pixel pitch across the 8.8mm image circle.

How wide is the CIL232 field of view?

The CIL232 provides 200° total field of view with 181° measured at the 8.8mm image circle. That is wide enough for surround-view, overhead monitoring, and multi-camera stitching applications.

Is the CIL232 weatherproof for outdoor use?

Yes. The M12A variant is IP67-rated with a sealed metal barrel and BBAR-coated front element. Both the CIL232-F1.9-M12A650 (with 650nm IRC) and CIL232-F1.9-M12ANIR (no filter) are sealed.

What lens holder works with the CIL232?

The Commonlands CLA019-LCP lens holder is the recommended mount. e-con Systems boards need an 8–13mm tall holder. Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye XLS, TIS, and Basler Dart are also mechanically compatible.

Does the CIL232 fisheye lens ship same day from the US?

Yes. Commonlands ships all in-stock M12 lenses same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

What is the distortion profile of the CIL232?

Under 10% F-Theta distortion. The CIL232 uses F-Theta projection rather than rectilinear — standard for fisheye lenses at this field angle. Full distortion curves including optical, F-Theta, and TV distortion are in the mechanical drawing.

The CIL232 is a 3.1mm M12 fisheye lens with a 200° field of view, built for sensors up to 1/1.7" format. At F/1.9, 12g, and 8.8mm image circle, it packs serious wide-angle capability into a miniature IP67-sealed package. The all-glass, aluminum barrel construction handles temperature swings without focus drift — this is an athermalized design.

The distortion profile sits under 10% F-Theta, which is well-controlled for a lens this wide. On the IMX728 or AR0823, you get 12MP+ resolution at 1.85μm pixel pitch across the full 181° at 8.8mm image circle. For surround-view, drone downward-facing, or 360° stitching applications, that angular coverage eliminates blind spots without needing multiple cameras.

Two filter options: order CIL232-F1.9-M12A650 with the 650nm IRC for daylight imaging, or CIL232-F1.9-M12ANIR without the filter for NIR-sensitive applications. The M12A variant is IP67-sealed with BBAR coating on the first lens surface. All-glass all-metal construction keeps weight at 12g total.

Compatible with the Commonlands CLA019-LCP lens holder. Also works with e-con Systems boards (8–13mm tall mount), Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye XLS, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart S-mount cameras. Ships same day from San Diego for orders before 12 PM PST. Trioptics MTF test data and mechanical drawings available on request. For depth of field estimates at your target working distance, try https://commonlands.com/pages/camera-depth-of-field-calculator.
