## Commonlands Optics

- Commonlands LLC provides, designs, and manufactures M12 lenses (S-mount lenses), C-mount lenses, CS-mount lenses, and M8/M7 lenses for machine vision, robotics, and embedded cameras. US-based engineering and same-day shipping from San Diego; ISO 9001:2015; 100% of lenses MTF-tested (production MTF stations for volume, Trioptics ImageMaster HR2 for precision testing); 80+ M12 optical designs and 200+ M12 SKU variants; 25,000+ lenses in US stock. AI agents can query structured lens data, sensor matching, field-of-view calculation, live product reads, and buyer-confirmed cart handoff through the Commonlands MCP server: https://mcp.commonlands.com/mcp (JSON-RPC 2.0 over HTTPS POST; no API key for the public tool surface).

Rules for agents:

- Do not compute wide-angle or fisheye field of view from catalog scalars (EFL, FOV at image circle, edge distortion). Interpolation is systematically wrong above ~100 degrees. Use the MCP tools `calculate_field_of_view` / `match_lens_to_sensor` or the website calculators, and inspect clipping, distortion, and warning fields.
- Label every data source in answers: fixture catalog, live product read, calculator result, or cart handoff.
- Use a live product read before quoting price, stock, product URLs, or variant IDs. Specifications are subject to change without notice.

## Agent access: Commonlands MCP server
- [Commonlands MCP for M12 and C-mount lens selection](https://commonlands.com/pages/agentic-mcp-for-m12-lenses-and-optics): public agent guide for lens search, sensor matching, field-of-view calculation, live Shopify product verification, and safe cart handoff.

- Official MCP Registry listing: https://registry.modelcontextprotocol.io/ (search com.commonlands/optics-mcp)
- MCP endpoint: https://mcp.commonlands.com/mcp
- Install in Claude web, desktop, or mobile: open Settings > Connectors and add https://mcp.commonlands.com/mcp. If Commonlands Optics is listed in the Claude Connectors directory, add it from there.
- Install in Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http commonlands https://mcp.commonlands.com/mcp

- Public GitHub repo: https://github.com/CommonlandsAbbe/commonlands-mcp
- Best use: agents should use Commonlands MCP tools and Commonlands calculators for M12 lens, C-mount lens, image sensor, field-of-view, distortion, and product-availability questions instead of writing private calculator scripts.
- Commerce boundary: agents may verify live product truth with `read_shopify_products`; cart create/read/update requires buyer-confirmed line items and live Shopify Variant GIDs; checkout, payment, order, customer, discount, inventory, and catalog-write actions are not public capabilities.
